Humeston Christian United Methodist Church

Humeston is a busy, small-town church, enjoying a usual worship attendance of 50 to 65. Some worshipers live in town. Others live nearby.

We fellowship together with LeRoy at times, and support each other’s ministries. You are welcome to visit and to freely explore to determine where you might find a niche in our parish community.

"Helping Hands" in Mission & Service

Helping Hands serves the Watermelon Day Dinner in July, our biggest event. The group also sponsors the Easter Breakfast, the Pool Party, the Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, and the Community New Year’s Eve Party.

Trunk or Treat has moved from the church parking lot to Broad Street where it is held in cooperation with the First Baptist Church. The City of Humeston helps by directing traffic. Gifts for best trunks and best costumes have been sponsored by Snyder's, Grassroots, Piper's Candy, and Casey's.There is popcorn and hot chocolate.  Many people, young and old, attend and participate.

A team started a “Reach Out in Love” ministry on potluck Sundays, the second Sunday of each month. It needs help to prepare and deliver “potluck” meals to people all over and around town who don’t get out much.

"Thanksgiving Ingathering"

High school youth delivered numerous disaster kits to the Creston UM Church for shipment to New Orleans where they will be distributed to other locations within the United States and to other countries.
