Humeston Christian United Methodist Church

Humeston is a busy, small-town church, enjoying a usual worship attendance of 50 to 65. Some worshipers live in town. Others live nearby.

We fellowship together with LeRoy at times, and support each other’s ministries. You are welcome to visit and to freely explore to determine where you might find a niche in our parish community.

"Helping Hands" in Mission & Service

Helping Hands serves the Watermelon Day Dinner in July, our biggest event. The group also sponsors the Easter Breakfast, the Pool Party, the Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, and the Community New Year’s Eve Party.

Trunk or Treat moved from the church parking lot to Broad Street this year. It was held in cooperation with the First Baptist Church. The City of Humeston helped by directing traffic. Gifts for best trunks and best costumes were sponsored by Snyder's, Grassroots, Piper's Candy, and Casey's.There was popcorn and hot chocolate.  The UTP Youth Group did a fundraiser for their spring mission trip selling chili dinners at the fire station.  Over 250 people from the community attended.

A team has started a “Reach Out in Love” ministry on potluck Sundays, the second Sunday of each month. The team prepares and home delivers “potluck” meals to people all over and around town who don’t get out much.

"Thanksgiving Ingathering"

High school youth delivered numerous disaster kits to the Creston UM Church for shipment to New Orleans where they will be distributed to other locations within the United States and to other countries.
